Why travel is essential

Students who travel with Rustic Pathways develop an important global perspective by participating in service projects that benefit local communities.

Exploring a new culture helps students better understand their place in the world and how their decisions impact others. It’s essential that all future leaders develop a global perspective that will enable them to find creative solutions to some of the world’s most pressing issues.

100+ programs options, including these:

Ricefields, Monks, and Smiling Children

Students take part in powerful service initiatives benefiting a host community in northeastern Thailand.

Teach English, build homes, cook delicious Thai food, and contribute to sustainable development near The Ricefields Base in Udon Thani.

Pacific Adrenaline

The ultimate South Pacific adventure experience! This three-week excursion through Fiji and New Zealand is for the adventurous student.

Hike, swim, snorkel, kayak, and scuba dive in the Fiji Islands (with an option to skydive), then head to New Zealand to blackwater raft down caves.

Highlands & Islands Service Immersion

This trip begins in Nasivikoso, a mountain village where you connect with a Fijian host family.

Once you're settled, you will spend your days working on construction and renovation initiatives for the village school. And there's a reward waiting for all your hard work: you get to swim, snorkle, and relax on the beaches of Kuata Island!

Summer Camp Leadership (Costa Rica)

Begin by whitewater rafting the Pacuare River, then spend three days leadership training while planning a creative summer day camp for local Costa Rican children!

You'll also get to enjoy ziplining, a coffee demonstration, relaxing in natural hot springs, and a boat trip to a tropical island paradise before heading home.
