Rustic Pathways provides international community service, education, and adventure programs for students around the world.
Whether you're a service buff or adrenaline junkie, first-time traveler or seasoned globetrotter, future educator or environmentalist, we have the right program for you. Choose from more than 100 program options in 17 countries on five continents.
At Rustic, our mission, vision, and values drive the way we run our programs, partner with local communities, and live our lives.
We believe through responsible travel and well-designed service initiatives, our students can gain an understanding of pressing social and environmental challenges at a global level and help combat these challenges at a local level.
Our projects are designed in collaboration with our local partners and focus on the following types of service initiatives: Community Health and Social Services, Economic Development, Education, Environment and Animal Welfare, and Infrastructure.
Can't commit to a summer program? No problem.
Consider one of our spring break programs. These fun and rewarding experiences offer an alternative to traditional spring break options.
Designed for you to get the most out of a one-week experience, these short programs are great for both first-time and experienced travelers to spend their spring break giving back during an incredible adventure.
"This trip has impacted me by showing me the joy that comes from teaching others a new language. The most important part of my trip was the community service aspect of each program, and teaching the ticos English during SCL was the most rewarding experience of the entire trip."
Students get involved in powerful service initiatives that benefit a host community in northeastern Thailand. They teach English, build homes, cook delicious Thai food, and contribute to sustainable development near The Ricefields Base in Udon Thani.
The ultimate South Pacific adventure experience! This three-week excursion through Fiji and New Zealand is for the adventurous student. Hike, swim, snorkel, kayak, and scuba dive in the Fiji Islands (with an option to skydive), then head to New Zealand to blackwater raft down caves.
This trip begins in Nasivikoso, a mountain village where you will connect with a Fijian host family and spend your days working on construction and renovation initiatives for the village school. After your hard work is finished, swim, snorkle, and relax on the beaches of Kuata Island.
Begin by whitewater rafting the Pacuare River, then spend three days training in leadership and planning a creative summer day camp for local Costa Rican children. Enjoy ziplining, a coffee demonstration, relaxing in natural hot springs, and a boat trip to a tropical island paradise before you head home.
Not only is Rustic Pathways a pioneer in providing quality travel and service programs for students and educators, but we’re also redefining how to integrate education, travel, and philanthropy in a world where all people are connected by a shared humanity.
We offer one-, two-, and three-week spring break and summer experiences for middle, high school, and college students; gap year programs for high school grads; and customizable teacher-led trips for school groups. Programs are carefully designed to help students make meaning of their travel experiences, identify interests and passions, gain confidence, and grow as individuals.
Across the globe, our local staff fosters lasting relationships with the communities in which we work, enabling our students to have immersive and authentic travel and service experiences.
